USA's Top 5 Olympic Sports

Contributed by Han Palframan.
Regional Director, USA Sport Group.

The highly anticipated Olympics in London are starting in the summer of 2012 and this always draws in billions of viewers from all around the globe. With people choosing which sports to watch, it raises the question of what Olympic sports are the biggest and most popular in America? These are my top five, let's see if you agree!

#5: Volleyball
Through college and university, volleyball has an ever growing following in our hot summer climate. With the women’s game being heavily sponsored throughout the USA, 300 schools sponsoring the game at varsity level, increasing resources are being utilized in the league format. This has resulted in it developing into one of the most hotly viewed Olympic sports.

#4: Track
From the 100m, 100m hurdles and 200m, to the 400m and 400m hurdles, the sprint events are by far the biggest around the world. In America, Michael Johnson is the only athlete in history to win the 200 and 400m at the same games!

Here’s my list, let’s see if you agree!

Jamaican born Patrick Ewing was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. He played most of his career with the New York Knicks, and his number 33 was retired by the Knicks in 2003.

#9: Oscar Robertson
Oscar Robertson, or ‘The Big O’, played with the Cincinnati Royals and the Milwaukee Bucks in the ‘60s and ‘70s. He was a twelve-time All-Star player, and eleven-time member of the All-NBA Team.

Who Will Win Super Bowl XLVI?

Contributed by Tim Te-bob (our NFL insider!)

The fourth quarter of the NFL Season is upon us, my fellow football fanatics. We’ve had lockout-induced lethargy to start the season, injuries galore to contend with and a “Dream Team” that Vince Young is likely having nightmares about, but have we yet found our Super Bowl champions? I would argue that we have not, sorry Cheeseheads.

The fourth quarter, as any Tim Tebow fan could tell you, is where games, or in this context, championships are won. Right now, the Green Bay Packers are the vogue Super Bowl pick, but I would caution fans to look towards the past to predict the future.

Over the past 15 years, how many Super Bowl winners finished the season with the best overall record throughout the regular season? Only three teams have done it, the 2003 New England Patriots, the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the 1996 Green Bay Packers.
