An Introduction to SNAG Golf

SNAG stands for ‘Starting New At Golf’. It’s a really cool and fun game that allows children to learn golf easily in a safe, controlled and fun environment.

All of the elements of golf are included in SNAG, but in a modified form. It has all the fun of mini golf, but implements the use of all the golf shots; chipping, pitching, and putting.

SNAG golf enables the children to develop golfing ability instantly, this keeps the children motivated, and with this instant success naturally comes enjoyment, and a desire to continue playing golf.

Children can’t be expected to learn how to use 14 golf clubs properly and effectively, learn how to hold all the clubs and learn the correct stance, and not to mention the situation in which you use each club.  SNAG's modified equipment enables the children to utilize just 2 clubs, the ‘roller’, and the ‘launcher’. With these two clubs the children are able to perform every golf shot. Click here for more information about SNAG golf equipment.

With every session of SNAG golf I have done, as long as the children can remember ‘right on red’ and ‘left on yellow’ they are certain to have a perfect swing every time, making the session productive and enjoyable for everyone.

It isn’t just the clubs that have been modified, the targets have too. All of the targets are big, colorful and are designed so that the balls stick to them upon impact. These work great in our sessions as it gives the children something to really focus their aim on.

SNAG golf really does allow children to have a fantastic first experience of golf, this positive experience along with the simple strokes they have learnt can be used as an effective transition into the game of golf.

All US Sports Institute golf programs utilize the SNAG system.  The US Sports Institute run golf programs for boys & girls ages 4-10, click here to learn more!
