NFL Week 3: Top 3 Performances

If there is anything that all football fans can agree on, it is the ridiculous calls being made by the replacement refs, but the rest of the opinions are still divided, such as what were the top 3 performances in week 3? This is our choice…

3: Pittsburgh Steelers 31 - 34 Oakland Raiders
Ben Roethlisberger threw 384 yards and 4 TDs for the Steelers, but they could still not get past the Raiders. One of the better defensive teams in the NFL, Pittsburgh were usurped by a determined Oakland Raiders side, who scored the final 13 points of the game, including a 43-yard field goal on the last play of the game.

2: Detroit Lions 41 - 44 Tennessee Titans
In a game that looked like it could go either way with huge scoring swings in each quarter, the Titans overcame the Lions. After the Titans let a 20-9 HT lead go, the Lions fought back, then the Titans fought back again, then the Lions fought back a second time, until Rob Bironas kicked a 26-yard field goal in OT to take the win.

1: New England Patriots 30 - 31 Baltimore Ravens
Sunday Night saw a great match up between the Patriots and Ravens, and the game did not disappoint. In what was the rematch of the AFC Championship game, Tom Brady threw 335 and 1 TD – but it was Torrey Smith who was the star of the show, playing 24 hours after the death of his brother, took 6 catches and 2 TDs for the Ravens. With yet more controversial refereeing decisions, this didn’t deter Justin Tucker who kicked the winning field goal as time expired.

Play of the Week:
Seattle Seahawks v Green Bay Packers
Okay, so technically not the play, but the call, of the week… On the last play of the game, Seahawks’ Golden Tate catches a 24-yard pass in the zone, but only one replacement ref signaled a touchdown, and they were but one yard from each other. The TD stood, and Green Bay lost 14 - 12. See it here!
